Major Assignments
- Assemble and maintain HTML (and graphics) content for new corporate intranet web site
- Conduct orderly transfer of existing intranet web site content and functionality to new corporate offices and web server
- Participate in design of new corporate intranet web site for reorganized company
Significant Accomplishments
- Constructed and deployed (with some assistance from another technical writer and web server manager) a new corporate intranet web site that distributed content provided by human resources, information services, legal, and commodities trading departments—3 months after receipt of look-and-feel prototype graphics from a web site design firm
- Constructed professional quality graphics, menu systems, and dynamic coding to enhance the quality of web site's content and usability
- Coordinated the transfer of the corporate intranet web site to another web server located at the company's new offices in Bethesda, Maryland; ensuring no down time and the orderly propagation of IP addresses to domain servers in the company's wide area network (WAN)
- Adapted coding found in Java servlets to provide same functionality of web forms, but with Active Server Pages (ASP)
- Designed and constructed the following Microsoft Access database applications to serve as helper tools for the busy web master: Webmaster's File Mover, Web Site Changes Log, and Outlook Interceptor (for unattended receipt of email file attachments and posting to web site)
- Improved and deployed a multi-user Microsoft Access application I had previously made for tracking documents, author(s), file locations, and revision status
- Developed new skills in NetObjects TeamFusion use
- Developed new skills in JavaScript, VBScript, and ASP coding
- Developed new skills in Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) management
