Major Assignments

  • Produce and manage distribution of an educational, personal computer (PC) skills newsletter targeted toward hospital administrative staff
  • Produce and manage distribution of a promotional newsletter that informed hospital staff about the features of a new, major hospital information management system and the progress made toward its installation and deployment
  • Provide graphics and desktop publishing support for other documentation produced by IS department staff

Significant Accomplishments

  • Developed logos, layout, graphics, and titling for two new newsletters: Ready, Set, Connect and H.I.S. Hardcopy
  • Performed all the steps needed to ensure newsletters contained significant content, and were reproduced and distributed to a circulation of approximately 600 recipients
  • Wrote newsletter articles that addressed topics about DOS command line skills, PC maintenance, virus issues, and related subjects
  • Built databases for tracking volunteer writers, newsletter distribution mailing list, hospital forms, PC class attendance and records
  • Worked with another desktop support person to produce an educational class for hospital administrative staff, informing them of newly discovered computer "viruses", virus-infection symptoms, and preventive measures
  • Developed charts, graphs, and other illustrations for computer training presentations and instructional materials
  • Developed new skills in desktop publishing and computer graphics production
  • Developed new skills in newsletter layout, rudimentary graphic design
  • Developed new skills in Ventura Publisher use
  • Developed new skills in Arts & Letters use
  • Developed new skills in Symantec Q&A use
  • Improved skills in WordPerfect use, including new skills in macro coding
  • Increased knowledge of computer and network systems
